We’ve been practicing civil litigation for over 15 years, primarily in the areas of employment law and wage and hour disputes. We also assist our clients with drafting wills, powers of attorney and providing legal advice in all aspects of probate and estate law.  With dozens of trials, mediations and hearings under our belt, we have learned that our success lies in constantly staying on top of new developments in the law, using state of the art technology both in the office and in court, and, especially, in listening to and building relationships with our clients. Jill was raised in Soldotna, Alaska and received her Bachelor of Arts from New York University in Spanish and Russian. After college, she attended Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon on an International Law Fellowship.  After graduating from law school, she returned to Alaska, where she joined a civil litigation law firm and developed a practice focusing on employment law issues, wage and hour disputes and commercial litigation.  Jill was a well-known speaker on employment law issues at seminars and in-house training sessions where she advised both small business owners and employees on pitfalls in the hiring and firing process and provided advice on how to stay in compliance with the state and federal discrimination laws, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and overtime statutes.

Jill relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee in 2007.  She began working in the litigation department of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel as part of a legal team representing physicians and insurance companies in medical malpractice and nursing home cases. She remained there for two years before joining a local translation company to manage their legal work arising from a major environmental lawsuit in South America. After taking some time off to adopt a child, Jill joined a small local firm which concentrated primarily on insurance defense and personal injury law. During her years working in both the big firm and small firm environment, Jill was successful in winning key verdicts and settlements for clients – in several instances saving clients over tens of thousands of dollars. Jill has appeared before both the Circuit Court and Chancery Court in Hamilton County and courts in surrounding counties representing clients in all phases of the litigation process. She has also argued motions and briefs before the federal district court and both the Alaska and Tennessee state supreme courts. She started the Law Offices of Jill Jensen Thrash to provide clients with the personal attention of a small firm, with the resources and experience of a large firm.

Jill is a member of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, the Women’s Leadership Institute, Women Mean Business, the Southeastern Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women, the Alaska Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association.  She volunteers with the McKamey Animal Center and the Tennessee River Gorge Trust. In her free time, Jill enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband Will, daughter Jamie, and their two dogs.
